So the Christmas season is just about to commence! It’s time to get the Advent calendars out! Has anyone noticed an increase in the amount of advent calendars available this year – even lego ones!? I don’t know about you, but in the lead up to Christmas, there is party after party, get together after get together, and it can be hard to keep the additive load down.

Throw on top of that the excitement of counting down the days until Christmas and eating additive laden lollies or chocolates each day.  I was out this morning picking up a few essentials and saw these advent calendars (and a whole lot like them).  They look great, attractive to the kids, however with 17 ingredients in these chocolates – that is too many for my liking!  Some of the ingredients I had never heard of before and had to google them to see what they were!

Advent calendar 2
For the last few years we have filled our own Advent calendars.  We have had to upgrade ours this year, as our last one wasn’t able to hold much for 5 children! Check it out below…It’s gorgeous and it doubles as a Christmas decoration!

Fill your own!

Yes it did cost more than the $2.95 from the local supermarket, but we will use this for many years to come and we can fill it with little surprises, things to do or even the occasional additive free treat!

Have fun with your families counting down to Christmas!
